Two-day TaKeTiNa workshop:
Ground Floor Rhythm
Saturday & Sunday, November 14, 10:30am-6:30pm & 15 • 10:30am-5pm
We have used our feet to enter and stay in rhythm since we were children.
In American culture, childhood games such as jumping rope and hopscotch help us fine-tune balance, spatial orientation, and timing. We sing rhymes and songs to accompany these games, turning our voices into “timekeepers.”
This same rhythmic knowledge is found in other indigenous cultures, with rituals and dances, accompanied by drumming, chanting, and voice.
Our feet, whether through jumping rope or ritual dance, carry us into a profound connection with the ground beneath us.
Enter the TaKeTiNa rhythm circle and explore your relationship to the ground. Experience becoming a “timekeeper” with voice and hands and rattle. You can make your journey into rhythm as simple or complex as you wish as you learn to rest in your connection with the ground beneath your feet.

New email for me…also purchased the iphone and go in for a class Sunday morning at the Mallto figure how to use this thing..oh yea…shoping after class…. I changed my cable and internet service to ATT so it has been a long process getting all the accounts in order… Returned energized after the Hawaiian drum week, and then left a week later for the Sister’s Oregon Folk Festival. Wonderful Americana music for three days and evenings. On Monday I arrived in Portland and spent two days with Mary. Saw Dave and Nancy for a Taketina afternoon and evening. such fun!..left Wednesday and returned to fix a stopped up sink, and all the extras that come with a home. I’m going to the Oregon workshop at still meadows the same weekend you and Zorina are going to Austin. Not sure yet about coming for the Haw workshop, but will decide sometime in October. Cheers Nancy
